Why You Cannot Trust TSH 3 and 4 Test Results for Thyroid Health and Wellness

I advise all of my clients to specify a full thyroid panel of tests when they get a checkup. Those of us with autoimmune diseases and those with degenerative diseases such as cancer, obesity and other potentially serious diseases often have undetected thyroid issues. In addition to those with health issues, men and women who are 40 and older, whether they have diseases or not, should request full thyroid panel testing when getting a physical.

I have vitiligo — an autoimmune disease that is often seen as a symptom of a malfunctioning thyroid. Medical doctors were slow to recognize the correlation between thyroid health and vitiligo. I was one advocate in the 1990s who encouraged fellow vitiligo sufferers to take my research to their doctors and demand, if they had to, thyroid testing. Back then, most medical doctors thought of vitiligo as only a “cosmetic” disease. Unfortunately, many still do.

What I’ve found over the years is, many people like myself, have thyroid problems that go undetected when our doctors test for TSH 3 & 4, without more thorough testing. I’ve has symptoms of hypo-thyroidism most of my life, but not once has it ever shown up in TSH 3 & TSH4 tests. Ever.

I had a physical 2 weeks ago. I requested the full panel of thyroid tests. The doctor questioned why I wanted it, asking if I had problems in the past. Though my thyroid always tested within “normal” range, I have known I was hypo-thyroid pretty much all of my life based on my lifelong vitiligo and other symptoms such as low body temperature. So, I had to persuade this doctor to do what she should do for every patient — fully check my thyroid for dysfunction.

When my test results came in the mail this past Monday, my TSH 3 and TSH 4 showed a perfectly normal thyroid range; however, the tests that I had to persuade the doctor to do showed a different story. It showed that I was bordering hypothyroid/Hashimoto’s disease. These results are very typical of those of us with vitiligo and/or other autoimmune diseases. It is also typical of many sufferers of other diseases, and for many whose thyroid tests in normal range in the standard TSH 3 & TSH 4 tests.

Undetected thyroid problems are epidemic in the USA, and a large undetected part of the problems of obesity, diabetes and cancers, as many natural health professionals such as myself believe. In the USA, the average person gets little to no iodine in their diet, which is necessary to nourish the thyroid. Bread eaters are blocking absorption of the iodine that may occasionally get in their iodine-poor standard American diets. Supplementing iodine is mandatory for health, thanks to removal of iodine from, and the addition of bromine to bread products.

Since my 20’s when I uncovered my own hypo-thyroidism/Hashimoto’s tendency via symptoms and by performing the Basal Temperature Test, I’ve supplemented to improve and nourish my thyroid. My current regimen includes Iodoral iodine, plus raw thyroid glandular supplements to nourish my thyroid to function properly. My body usually signals me when my regimen needs tweaking. I encourage my clients to find a qualified endocrinologist in addition to learning how to monitor their own thyroids via the Basal Temperature test. Once clients learn the symptoms of thyroid problems and learn to listen to their bodies, they often can tell when something is off.

Since many doctors do not go beyond the TSH 3 & 4 thyroid tests, I encourage you to take a proactive role in your health care. Insist on full panel thyroid tests. If I had not insisted on the Thyroid Antibodies test, my bloodwork would’ve missed a very important fact — I have a thyroid problem! Since the thyroid controls every metabolic process in my body, my entire state of health — both physical and mental — were at stake.

As stated earlier, I’ve regulated my thyroid since my early 20s and I can sense when my thyroid is off. I knew I had to up my supplements based on how I felt and how my body was holding onto weight. I listen to my body and I know when I either need to lower or raise my supplements, which changes with age, stress levels, lifestyle changes, etc.

A simple basal temperature thermometer is helpful to gauge your own thyroid health, with the Basal Temperature Test. Shake the thermometer down at night, and check your armpit temperature as soon as you awaken, without stirring much, for 5 consecutive days. If your temperature is consistently low, consider further testing, because it signals thyroid issues, despite TSH 3 and 4 results. Find a qualified endocrinologist who is open to your concerns and proactive stance regarding your health when asking for full …

Password Policy

Obviously, we witness a large positive tendency in protecting valuable data all over the companies. According to the last annual global password survey approximately 70% (1) of all examined organizations improve their IT-security policy raising the number of password changes per year, complicating passwords by various numbers and signs, and paying special attention to their length.

You may ask why we should rely on passwords that are not complete and need constant verification. Is there any other option to secure and control access to your valuable data? There certainly must be some other means of authentication. You are right. I'm sure you've seen those sci-fi movies when a sexy spy has to identify his fingerprints, voice pattern, or even DNA sequence to enter some devilish and secret building. These biometric methods look very impressive, but not all of the companies can afford such luxurious security systems. However, they are quite safe and thus broadly spread in the criminal sphere and national security issues. Instead, you may use diverse security tokens, but apart from biometric parameters that are unavoidably with you, you will have to keep an eye on all these special devices. They are pocket-size, cutting edge, and very stylish, still they can easily disappear from your keychain. All things considered, passwords seem to be the least burdensome, but can you unambiguously rely on your memory?

Naturally, people can not remember say a 15 symbol password at once. It becomes more problematic if you have to remember several such passwords and change them regularly. What would you do? Probably jot them all down and hide under your keyboard as 50% (1) of all responses do? Bad choice! Imagine you are a network administrator, you would acquire such an impressive collection that the Royal Library of Alexandria could envy you. Maybe, store your passwords on your PDA as 11% (2) of responders do? Not really safe! Fair enough, you can severely crack those portable devices, but still bad guys will most likely take advantage of the Internet connection your sophisticated devices are equipped with and sniff out your precious passwords say through email. I wonder is there any safe way to save our passwords? Ironically, this necessity in security enhancement actually jeopardizes the information you desperately try to save from others.

In addition, there are always human factor mistakes that can never be predicted. Funnily enough, practically 75% (2) of all responses use one password for different login applications. Guys, you dance on a volcano! There is no universal password which could be safe for all the documents. You can make up the longest password you are able to remember, but for some programs do not require them to be so complicated, you risk losing all your other documents. Interestingly, more than 80% (2) of responders simply forget their passwords. That is human nature! Believe me or not, network administrators reap a good benefit from it.

Poor password policy management brings about a great demand and, consequently, provokes cost increase in IT help desk services which ends up in heavy expenses for the end-users. It is estimated that IT help desk administrators charge $ 25- $ 50 for one call. Let's say you forget just one single password every week; then you would give away $ 2600 in a year. The same sum of money is charged for one password reset (1). As IT-security experts recommend changing passwords every 3 months that would cause some extra expenses.

The 7 Macrominerals – Essential Nutrients For All Round Health

The macrominerals are the seven main minerals that your body needs to function properly. They support your body with a wide range of functions including maintaining fluid balance, promoting metabolism and regulating blood pressure. In this article I will be covering each of the seven in more detail.

Calcium was discovered by Sir Humphry Davy in 1808. Approximately 1.5% of an average adult’s bodyweight is made up of this nutrient. The main role of calcium in the body is to promote strong bones and teeth. It also helps control blood pressure, muscle contractions and nerve transmission.

The recommended daily allowance (RDA) for calcium increases with age. Children aged 0-6 months require just 210mg per day whilst adults aged 51 years and older require a much higher 1200mg per day. Dairy products are often the best source of this macromineral with cheese (721mg per 100g), milk (114mg per 100ml) and yoghurt (200mg per 100g) containing very high levels.

Overdosing on calcium by consuming 3000mg per day or more can lead to dehydration, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain and vomiting. Failing to consume the RDA can be just as bad and may cause high blood pressure, muscle cramps and osteoporosis (reduced bone density).

Chloride was discovered as a compound by Carl Whilhelm Scheele in 1774. It was later isolated by Sir Humphry Davy in 1807. Around 0.15% of an average adult’s bodyweight is chloride. This macromineral has a number of roles in the body which include assisting with the production of glandular hormones, maintaining blood pressure, maintaining fluid balance, removing waste materials from the body and supporting metabolism.

The RDA for chloride increases with age. Children aged 0-6 years require around 180mg per day whilst adults require 750mg per day. The best food sources of this nutrient include butter (1300mg per 100g), olives (300mg per 100g) and whole grain bread (860mg per 100g).

Whilst there is no recommended upper limit (UL) for chloride some people have experienced breathing difficulties, fluid retention and high blood pressure if they eat extremely large amounts. Not consuming enough of this nutrient can also have adverse effects on your body leading to muscles spasms and weakness.

Magnesium was initially discovered by Henry Wicker in 1618 in the form of ‘Epsom Salts’. It was later isolated in 1808 by Sir Humphry Davy. Approximately 0.05% of an average adult’s bodyweight is magnesium. It is responsible for over 300 biochemical reactions in the human body which include promoting metabolism, helping the muscles and nerves relax and supporting healthy bone growth.

The RDA for magnesium increases with age. Children aged 0-6 months need just 30mg per day of this macromineral whilst adults aged 31 years and older require considerably more (men need 420mg per day, women need 320mg per day and pregnant women need 360mg per day). The richest food sources of this nutrient are quite varied with almonds (279mg per 100g), brazil nuts (229mg per 100g) and spinach (87mg per 100g) all containing high levels.

Consuming 1000mg or more of magnesium per day can lead to a number of negative symptoms including diarrhea, fatigue and stomach cramps. Failing to get enough of this nutrient can also have negative effects and cause muscle cramps, nausea, numbness and vomiting.

Phosphorus was discovered by accident in 1669 during an experiment where the German alchemist Henning Brand tried to convert metals into gold. It represents around 1% of an average adult’s bodyweight. The main role of phosphorus is to work in conjunction with calcium and promote the development of strong bones and teeth. It also activates the B-complex vitamins and assists in the production of the genetic information carriers – deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA).

The RDA for this macromineral varies with age. Children aged 0-6 months need to consume just 100mg per day of this nutrient. This requirement increases to 1250mg per day for children aged 9-18 years old but then drops to 700mg per day for adults aged 19 years and older. High protein foods are the best way to get your daily phosphorus with beef fillet steak (265mg per 100g), cheddar cheese (520mg per 100g) and chicken (190mg per 100g) all very rich sources.

Excess phosphorus in the body is very rare and often only develops as the result of kidney disease which then leads to calcification of the soft tissues (a condition where calcium is deposited on the soft tissues which causes them to harden). Not having enough phosphorus in the body is also very rare and usually only develops as a side effect of certain diseases. When a deficiency does develop it can lead to anemia (a low red blood cell count), osteomalacia (softening of the bones) and weakness.

Early humans were aware of potassium compounds but it …

Health and Our Life

"If you have health, you probably will be happy, and if you have health and happiness, you have all wealth of life you need, even if its need all you want"

The above quote is very much true, until and unless we are not healthy from inside we are not happy. Even, if we earn a lot of money but there is no happiness. Being healthy does not just mean physical health of a person; it covers both aspects of any human ie PHYSICAL health as well as MENTAL health. Both form of health have its own causes and cure and both are very much dependent on each other or we can say one can be the cause of other and at the very same time one is the cure for the other. Likewise we say "if a person is not physically well, it is going to affect his / her mental health". At the very same time we say "He is so healthy physically that he is always cheerful and so he is very much tension free and so he does not have any mental tension".

If a person is not mentally well then his physical health is affected, and it is very easily seen on their face. That is how just by seeing someone we say "he is so full of life !!" Whenever we see any cheerful person. His face has a different charisma. But at the same time whenever we see few people and we are not able to stop ourselves by saying that "how depressed is he always !!"

We humans are bound to take mental tensions and make our body suffer. So there had been many courses to be mentally as well as physically very healthy. Taking few times from our precious work to become healthy and we have many options like, Yoga, which, if we follow regularly not only give our health a boon but also relieves us from all tensions. We learn to work very calmly, another being MEDITATION, which gives our mental health a lot of piece and make us very much patient towards any situation. There are various forms of exercises like aerobics, jogging, Gymnasium.etc … Even new forms of dances is coming up and they keep us involved in them. Few of them to be named are salsa, cha-cha-cha, tap dance etc …

As said by very famous author Wayne Dyer:

"You can set yourself to be sick, or you can choose to stay well."

Here it is advisable to everyone that we must keep ourselves healthy. While we may not be able to control all that happens to us, but we can control what happens inside us.

Water-A Pillar of Health

Water is a basic pillar of health. It is involved in every function of our body . When we drink water, we are keeping our five vital organs hydrated and ready for action: the brain, heart, lungs liver and kidneys. As a result, these organs will work properly and the other organs can work properly as well and we can lead a healthier life.

When we do not drink enough water, our body sufferers. Many health problems can be reduced simply by drinking good water. If your joints hurt and have arthritis, it might be that all you need to do is drink more water. You see, the cartilage in your joints is made of 80% water and it might just be that they are not hydrated enough. If you have high blood pressure, maybe your body is sending you a signal that you need more water because your blood vessels are being constricted. Dr. Colbert says that many of his patients have lowered their blood pressure simply by drinking enough water. So you have digestive problems? Water keeps the digestive juices supplied and helps your body create all the acid it needs to kill the H. Plyori bacteria that causes ulcers, and improvements digestion. So, maybe all you need to do to make your digestive system run smoother is drink more water.

HOW MUCH should we have?

Here is a simple formula that Dr. Don Colbert, author of The Seven Pillars of Health, gives us: Just divide your weight in pounds by two. That is how much water you should drink every day. So, if you are 120 pounds, you should have 60 oz of water; if you weigh 200 pounds, you should have 100 oz. However, that does not mean you have to drink it all. When you eat lots of fruits and veggies, you also are supplying your body with fluids since they are made of mostly water. Depending on how many fruits and vegetables you eat a day, you might be able to add up to a half quart or even a quart of the daily fluid you need.

Is it possible to drink TOO MUCH water?

The answer is "yes". My brother and sister-in-law told me there was a girl on TV that was doing some sort of contest with her friends to see who could drink the most water before having to go to the bathroom. Well, this girl who won the contest lost her life! Can you imagine? So much for more water is better!

The reason for her death was probably that her body was depleted of potassium and electrolyte levels because she had drunk too much water . When we drink excess amounts of water, we can get a condition called psychogenic polydipsia, which causes potassium and electrolyte levels to become dangerously low. This may lead to your death. We do not usually drink TOO MUCH water, but I just want to make you aware of the consequences if you do that since some people always think that more is better when MODERATION is always the key.

WHEN should we drink the water?

Well, contrary to normal belief, it should not be mostly at meal times . At this time you should only have 4-8 ounces and make sure it is room temperature. Any drink that is extremely cold or has ice in it makes it harder for your body to digest your food.

Dr. Colbert suggests in his book "The Seven Pillars of Health" that we should drink most our fluids two hours after meals and up to 30 minutes before meals. You do not have to get all your fluids from water either. Like I said earlier, eating lots of fruits and veggies can count to up one quart of fluid, so that means if you need to 4 quarts of fluid a day, you can make it only 3 quarts of just plain water or tea, or other drinks that are not highly sugared or have filled with caffeine. Coffee counts, as long as you do not have more than 2 cups a day.

Is all water equal?

No, it is not. There is better water than others. It used to be that here in the US we could drink tap water and it was good for us. Unfortunately, that is not the case anymore. There are many contaminants in it that municipal treatments can either detect nor remove from the water supply, even though the EPA does check the water daily.

Not only are there chemicals and microbes in tap water, but, unfortunately that things that put in it to help "purify" the water is dangerous to us. Some cities put in chlorine to kill microorganisms; however, chlorinated water has been linked to birth defects and spina …

Physiological Effects of Alcohol Abuse: Your Health Is the Real Cost

Alcohol is a highly addictive mind-altering substance, although it is widely accepted around most of the world. Its abuse is the number one drug problem in the US; Over 50% of adult population in the US, are regular drinkers. There are over 25,000 alcohol induced deaths per year, excluding accidents and homicides. Chronic or overuse of alcohol has many negative effects on the human physical body and the mind. Long term alcohol abuse may drive some into poverty, but the real cost is one's health.

Alcohol Related Health Issues

Heavy alcohol use increases the risks for many diseases, such as liver cirrhosis, pancreatitis and cancer. It suppresses the immune system, making one more susceptible to high respiratory infections; furthermore, it interferes with the absorption of calcium, which may lead to osteoporosis. Alcohol influences one's brain chemistry, altering mood, arousal and behavior. Long term use may cause memory loss, confusion, balance problems and sleep disturbances.

Women and Alcohol

Because women in general weigh less than men, they are more severely affected by alcohol. When alcohol passes through the digestive tract it is dissolved in the stored water in the body; therefore, alcohol is less diluted in women's bodies, increasing health risks and damage on the organs. Women who drink are more susceptible to coronary heart disease and breast cancer. They may experience fertility issues, irregular periods, and during pregnancy, alcohol may cause miscarriages, along with significant abnormalities in the developing baby.

Men and Alcohol

Men are more likely to drink excessively than women, and when inoxicated, are more likely to take part in unprotected, risky sexual behavior. Alcohol abuse interferees with healthy testicular function and male hormone production, which causes impotence, loss of sex drive, wasting of testicles, infertility and low testosterone. Due to its diuretic properties, alcohol causes dehydration and loss of many vital minerals and salts. Additionally, it blocks the absorption of vitamins, which may cause malnutrition as well as cancer of the large bowel and rectum.

Alcoholism in the US

Alcoholism is a more serious problem that most suspect. There are over 12 million alcoholics in the US. Because these serious health concerns do not manifest immediately, regular drinking and even overuse is accepted by many. It is shocking to see how some lives are ruined because of one's inability to stop drinking. It is a strong physical and emotional addiction, that for many, is hard to break. There are support groups such as Alcohol Anonymous, a highly effective program, along with behavioral therapies and medicines.

If you or your loved one is affected by alcoholism and need assistance, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration can provide you with assistance, printed material and treatment referral information. You may also go to their website and access the Substance Abuse Treatment Services Locator to find a facility near you. You may also call the SAMHSA Treatment Referral Helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357) 1-800-487-4889 (TDD).

10 Tips to Find and Seduce Married Women

So, you’ve met a woman who you really want to sleep with, but she’s married. No worries! If you want to seduce married women, there is nothing to be ashamed of. After all, in the end it’s her decision, right? There are a heap of positives to sleeping with other men’s wives. Sex with no commitment, no dates to spend money on, she’s primarily interested in you for sex only, etc..

10 Tips To Find And Seduce Married Women

1) The best way to seduce married women is to look in bars with an “older” crowd. Why would a married woman go out drinking without her husband if she isn’t interested in meeting another man?

2) Treat the fact that she’s married as a “non-issue”. Make sure that you’re only interested in sex, and that her husband will never know because you’re not seeking a relationship.

3) Keep conversation topics on the matter at hand: Sex! You don’t have to be overly sexual, but try to make her feel sexy and wanted. Married women love attention from other men because their husbands often start taking them for granted.

4) Browse internet sites like Adult Friend Finder for wives looking for sex. This is the easiest way to do it, but it’s not exactly as fun as going out and getting an unsuspecting target.

5) Treat every married woman like she is single, young, and sexy. This is what they want from a man. Why do so many older women go for cosmetic surgery? Because as they age they lose their self esteem. Make them feel good.

6) If you work in the same office as her, single her out, take her for lunch, get closer to her, just like she was single. Be careful!

7) Invite your married target to your home for some inconspicuous reason (a “friendly” coffee?). This will isolate her, and make her feel more comfortable to open up. Slowly direct the conversation to sexual waters. Again, be careful if you work with her.

8) Work parties are great for seducing married women! As we all know, alcohol brings out the truth. If she’s going to cheat, she’ll do it with a little help from the wine bottle!

9) Join a swingers community. Need I explain more?

10) My favourite…Approach women with children in supermarkets, shopping centres, coffee shops, etc.. The last thing she’ll be thinking about is an approach from a man. Be subtle, ask her for a coffee. If she goes with you easily, it is a sign that she wants to break her daily grind and meet new people. After a coffee, take it further and ask her out for a “friendly” drink, and take it from there. This is probably the most difficult, but most exhilarating way to seduce other men’s wives.

General Health Tips – How to Live a Healthy Life

A lot of people are yet to realize that man's greatest assets is his health. Without good health, there would be no need for amassing all the glorious material stuffs, because you can not enjoy anything not even cooking when you are sick. So this teaching should be passed on to the youngger kids after us, sharing with them the importance of living a healthy lifestyle so that when they grow up they will have no difficulty in expressing their knowledge in actions.

As loving parents, there are fundamental, key things we must teach our children as they grow up. It is not enough to let them have everything they need, also allow them to eat all the unhealthy foods the world has to offer. Some of the things you must learn as a parent is to help your child in all aspects of life even in what to eat. Some parents believe that their children can eat whatever they need at their early stage of life so long it makes them happy, they also assume that as the child reaches an older point he will learn to take care of his / her health matters. I must say that this is a terribly wrong impression for parents to have about health. The bible says "train up a child in a way he should go, and when he old he will not depart from it." The way you teach a child from the initial point is how he would grow up to be, learn all you can now to pass this information to your child about living a healthy life. Do not assume that the eating habit of your son or daughter will change as he / she advances in age, it will remain the same, only a few things might change due to direct information or training, but the poor character will still be there until conscious effort is made to replace it. And as a loving parent, you would not want your child to experience such difficulty in the future, create the perfect training now that they are young.

Children should be taught the importance of eating breakfast before starting the day. A child that knows the essence of breakfast is likely to have a better performance in school than the one that does not, so make sure that your child is well taught these basic health lessons.

Always remember that one of the overall health tips that a child is exercise. A child that is well exercised will be livelier when playing with his peers as this will reduce the risk of injuries. Exercise will not only keep your child fit and health but will help with the prevention common health issues.

Sticking to general health tips is one of the easiest ways to take care of one's family and personal health. Never forget that what you read today concerning your health will always come up tomorrow, learn all you can now so that there would not be any complications tomorrow.

I Protect My Family, Do You?

I am a mom of two. I love my kids and I love my husband. I will do anything to protect them from anything that can harm our family and them as individuals. I am always vigilant: where they go, where they are at the moment when I look for them and who they are with, of course, without being nosy. With all the crimes and circumstances that affect the family nowdays, it is always important that someone should safeguard the people that we love the most.
Specifically, I protect my family from:

1. Diseases.

I make sure that my family is always healthy. I cook them healthy foods everyday from breakfast until dinner. They say that the most important meal of the day is breakfast so I make sure that whatever they eat for breakfast will provide them with the energy that they will need for the rest of the day. Cereals are not enough for me. Each food group should be represented. That is also the same for their lunch or dinner. However, since my husband works and my kids eat their lunch at school, I simply monitor what they eat by asking them when they get home. Deliveries are not very frequent in our house. As much as possible, I cook dinner as I am a stay home mom.

I also make sure that my kids take their vitamins daily. My husband has his own as well. I specifically focus my attention to strengthening their immune system as this mechanism is the best protection against diseases. I am aware that new strings of diseases happen that is why I have my kids vaccinated.

2. Brokenness.

I grow up in a family who loves each other. My father was always a good provider and he respects my mom and loves her dearly. This respect and love is then reflected to us. We grow up respecting each other, as siblings and as sons / daughters. Whenever there were conflicts between any members of our family, we make sure that it is immediately resolved.

I keep my communication line with my kids open. Whenever they need someone to talk to, I always make myself available. I try to be the best wife to my husband-tending to his every need and making sure that I am able to provide more than what he expects from me. I do not want my kids growing up with divorced parents. I believe that I am the glue that keeps our family intact.

3. Identity theft.

This is a very serious crime that is very rampant nowdays. I, as a mother, always ensure that our personal information ate kept private so that we can evade any attempt of identity theft in our family. My husband is fond of using his credit card as he always travels. I monitor his credit statements and take account of every purchase or charges that are incurred. This way, I know that no other person is using my husband's name for their own personal gain. I take the issue of identity theft formally as I am aware that identity theft can ruin our family.

This is how I protect my family. How do you protect yours?

Are Vitamin Supplements Beneficial For Our Nutritional Health

A widely debated nutrition topic is vitamin supplementation, and specifically – are multivitamins beneficial to our nutritional health, and should we be supplementing with multivitamins.

Dietary supplements are widely used, with the most popular of these being the multivitamins. Research and surveys done by the Nielsen Company show that around 40% of the population worldwide are taking these vitamin supplements, with usage in the United States being the greatest at around 54%.

And why are these so heavily used? The most common reasons are things like covering for known diet deficiencies and ensuring that a balanced diet is being eaten – the latter being the reason given the most often in the US at around 62%.

No doubt that vitamin supplements are used so often, because of the millions of dollars spent on advertising and marketing them as being necessary for nutritional health. And apparently the US as the fast food capital of the world, and the country said to have the worst health, thinks that these vitamin pills are going to make up for all of the fried foods, donuts, and sugar that is consumed.

A Case For Vitamin Supplementation

Now, there are reasons that more vitamins and minerals may be needed. For instance, it would be necessary in for correcting certain deficiencies in the body. And research has clearly shown that through the years mineral depletion from the soil has occurred, as the result of feet of top soil being beaten from the earth's surface.

As well, different farming practices, including the tons of herbicides and pesticides that have been applied to the soil, have killed micro-organisms that are needed for re-establishing soil mineralization. And who knows what you are getting from genetically modified and fortified foods as one of the answers to this problem.

It has been said that if the body does not have their proper minerals, then it can not properly use its vitamins. And Linus Pauling, who is a two-time Nobel Prize winner, said: "You can trace every sickness, every disease, and every ailment to a mineral deficiency."

So definitely there is a case for adding more vitamins to our system – but is doing so through multivitamin supplements an effective way to do this?

Are Multivitamin Supplements Effective

In light of how unhealthy many people's diet and nutritional health is, along with some of the soil mineralization issues discussed above, it would appear that a multivitamin supplement could be very helpful.

However, there are many research studies that have shown that not only are these supplements not effective, they are actually harmful to our health. These studies include:

· Smokers supplementing with beta-carotene [a precursor to vitamin A] have higher lung cancer rates.

· People with previous heart attacks supplementing with beta-carotene having a greater risk of dying from cardiovascular disease

· A clinical trial studying the effect of vitamin E and selenium for reducing prostate cancer showed higher cancer rates from the vitamin E, and also an increased risk for diabetes from the selenium

· An aggregate of studies that included over 200,00 people who supplemented with vitamin AE had an increase in mortality

· And numerous other studies on vitamin supplementation showing an increase in the risks and occurrences for cancer, heart disease, damage of the kidneys, and bone fractures

Whole Food Multivitamin Supplements

You can see the different sides of the vitamin supplement effectiveness debate: (1) our nutritional health and body absolutely needs vitamins, and may have an additional requirement because of deficiency or smaller amount received from the foods we eat (2) but there are studies showing that supplementing with vitamins may not be effective, and can even be harmful to our health.

That is quite a dilemma, but there is something important that must be understood; the undering issue is the source of the vitamins being taken – from the highly regarded nutritionist, Judith DeCava:

"This is what occurs with all synthetic vitamins: the body treats them as toxins, leading to the 'expensive urine' of excess vitamin intake referred to repeatedly, since the human system via the urinary tract attempts to rid itself of the major quantity of such foreign chemicals. "

The problems shown in the studies do exist, but they also are giving a skewed view of the nutritional health benefits from vitamin supplements. The reason for this is because the studies are being done with synthetic vitamins that may be taken in mega doses and / or single isolated vitamins only.

And bodies need the synergies from a complex of vitamins, like what is found in whole foods, and not is huge amounts that far excess the recommended upper daily limits.

There are not multiple studies showing that whole food vitamins are not effective and are hurting us – these are the vitamins that we …

International Travel Medical Insurance – Do I Need One?

First, let's define what an International Travel Medical Insurance is. International Travel Medical Insurance is a short-term medical insurance plan that provides among other things medical coverage associated with international traveling. It is sometimes known as Travel Medical Insurance for short.

Do not confuse Travel Medical Insurance with International Health Insurance which typically is an annual plan that provides more comprehensive medical coverage for people living abroad. This is sometimes known as the Expatriate Health Insurance or Global Health Insurance.

The following are some of the typical benefits found in International Travel Medical Insurance:

  • Reimbursement of eligible medical expenses,
  • Trip Interruption,
  • Lost checked luggage,
  • Emergency medical evacuation,
  • Emergency reunion,
  • Emergency dental,
  • Accidental death and dismemberment,
  • Return of remains.

More and more International Travel Medical Insurance plans are also providing the following additional benefits as their standards:

  • Terrorism coverage,
  • Hospital indemnity (or hospital daily cash)
  • Complications of pregnancy,
  • Acute sunset of a pre-existing condition,
  • Natural disaster,
  • Travel assistance such as pre-trip health and safety advisories, emergency cash transfers, lost passport or travel document assistance, bail bond assistance, etc.

Some may even provide:

  • Incidental home country coverage for a short return to home country during coverage period,
  • End of trip home country coverage of say, an additional 30 days at an extra premium.

Just like all medical insurance plans, there are deductibles, coinsurance percentages and overall maximum limits associated with International Travel Medical Insurance. Different levels and combinations of these benefit features will give rise to different premium rates.

The detailed explanations of these benefit items are beyond the scope of this paper. For more information, readers are encouraged to refer to the link provided in the resource box.

Now back to the question of "Do I need an International Travel Medical Insurance?" Before we answer this rhetorical question, let's examine some of the real risks associated with international traveling . We are talking about risks of:

  • Not knowing where to go or who to turn to when you have a medical situation in a foreign country;
  • Exposing yourself and your loved ones to sub-standard medical care that may further exacerbate your pain and suffering and putting your life at risk;
  • Emergency medical situations that may require you to be evacuated to save your life;
  • Emergency situations that develop due to act of war, terrorism or natural disaster.

Unfortunately, the above calamities are real in the world that we all live in today. From the financial point of view, it is not wise and illogical for an individual to assume all these risks. Furthermore, some of these risks are far beyond financial and in the case of an emergency it could mean live or death.

In short, whether you travel for business or pleasure, international travel involves risk. You may arrive at your destination to find that your luggage with personal items has disappeared. A personal emergency may necessitate your early return to your Home Country. A medical emergency may require hospitalization or even air evacuation. In most cases, your existing insurance will not provide adequate protection for these and other risks . Without appropriate travel insurance, you may be exposed to significant financial risks.

Fortunately, with a quality International Travel Medical Insurance plan, the above risks can be mitigated cost effectively. For example, you can get U $ 1,000,000 International Travel Medical Insurance coverage at as low as $ 1.50 per day . This is probably less than the cost of a bottle of mineral water!

So, do you need an International Travel Medical Insurance to cover you and your loved ones? The answer is obviously!

Go see the world, but do not leave home without a good International Travel Medical Insurance!

Facebook – How You Can Skyrocket Your Opt-Ins and Increase Traffic to Your Website

With 250,000 people joining every day, Facebook is fast becoming the HOTTEST ticket in town for online networking. As you may know, attracting and connecting with the RIGHT prospects can be challenging in a crowded marketplace. In this article I share my personal tips and strategies to help you build a successful and lucrative online business network.

Facebook offers an accelerated method for connecting with your target market online. It enables you to network, share ideas, forge joint venture partners and also learn from other success minded entrepreneurs from around the globe.

My personal experience of Facebook has been phenomenal. I have built my network to 470% 2B business 'friends' in less than 2 weeks. I'm getting over 1,000 hits on my website every single day which means increased sales and my opt-in rate for my e-zine and audio class has tripled … and all of this without having to step away from my desk! Hands up who wants some of that?

To take your first steps towards enhancing your online visibility you must begin by creating a business-centric Facebook profile page. To help you grow your network swiftly I've devised some simple fast-track tips to get you started.

1. Who is Your Target Market?

The first point is to consider who you target market is. Are they potential clients? Are they joint venture partners or friends? It's important that you consider how you will 'dress' your profile page. The features that you add should be tailor to the needs and interests of your specific target market.

Consider what photo you will use. Will your profile be more casual or one that is specifically geared towards a business audience? What type of videos will you use? What applications will you add to your profile page to generate your MWR (most wanted response)? All of these elements must reflect your business image and the requirements of your audience.

2. Get The Word Out

Begin by inviting your friends, collections and any other business associate to your Facebook page. This can be done simply and quickly by importing your contacts list directly from Outlook or your web based email service. Then send a short personalized message inviting people to join you. This will act as an immediate way to get the word out, grow you 'friend's list and let people know that you're on Facebook.

3. Grow Your Network

The third step is to build a network of people that you have access to at your finger tips. Begin by identifying your 'dream team.' Who do you most want to connect with? These are also the people that will serve as a beneficial Circle of Influence. When you've compiled your list locate each individual using the search box at the top left hand corner of the page. Then formulate a quick personalized email introducing yourself and how you know of them and request to be added to their friends list. Simple!

For example, I located a number of marketing guru's that I admire and have followed for many years. Making that connection with them has opened up the door to a plethora of new connections from like-minded entrepreneurs around the world who now wish to forge strategic alliances and joint venture partnerships with me.

4. Schedule Your List Growth

The next step is to work on growing your list on a consistent basis. Schedule some time each day to make a connection with new people. You might start with as little as 10 to 15 minutes every day but my recommendation it to allocate a least 45 minutes to this fantastic lead generation strategy. You will be surprised at just how quickly your contacts will grow and the reward is increased traffic to your website and elevated opt-in rates. As the word gets out people will begin to contact you! Remember I grow my list to 470% 2B in less than two weeks. So is not it time you gave Facebook a try?
